MEET LAUREN HUGHES

EARLY BEGINNINGS

As a life-long Montgomery County resident and native of Norristown, Lauren learned the importance of integrity, hard work, and service to others.  After losing her father at the age of 11, Lauren was brought up in a close-knit village under the guidance of her mother, Netta, a dedicated community activist. Netta instilled in Lauren a strong sense of justice and the conviction that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

These values shaped Lauren’s life and her career.

After earning a degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University, Lauren followed her passion for justice by obtaining her law degree at Widener University Delaware Law School. She attended classes at night while working full-time at the Pennsylvania CareerLink in Norristown.

Lauren has dedicated her career to public service, driven by a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Lauren had the privilege of working as a Public Defender in Montgomery County where she gained invaluable experience advocating for justice, protecting the rights of individuals and ensuring fairness in the legal process.

Currently, Lauren serves as a Senior Solicitor in the Montgomery County Solicitor's Office, acting as legal counsel for the County’s Health and Human Services departments. Whether managing complex litigation, negotiating contracts, or advocating for service accessibility, Lauren recognizes the critical role the court system plays in supporting the most vulnerable members of our society.

CAREER

LOOKING FORWARD

Lauren has dedicated her life to public service. She is honored to represent her community as an elected councilwoman of Norristown. This role has allowed her to listen to residents, provide guidance during legal challenges, and make decisions that enhance their lives.

These experiences have equipped Lauren to bring her dedication and values to the judiciary. She is committed to ensuring that courts remain fair, transparent and accessible for everyone regardless of their background.

Understanding the judiciary's crucial role in upholding justice and protecting rights she strives to contribute to a legal system that embodies the values of her community.
