WHO IS LAUREN HUGHES?

EARLY BEGININGS

A native of Norristown, Lauren learned the importance of integrity, hard work, and service to others. After the death of her father when she was 11 years old, Lauren was raised by a village led by her mother, Netta, a dedicated community activist, who instilled in her a deep commitment to fairness and the belief that every individual deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

These values have shaped Lauren’s life and her career.

PROFFESIONAL CAREER

After graduating from Florida A&M University with a degree in Business Administration, Lauren pursued her passion for justice by earning her law degree at Widener University Delaware Law School, at night, while working full-time at the Pennsylvania CareerLink.

Lauren has dedicated her career to public service, driven by a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Lauren had the privilege of working as a Public Defender in Montgomery County where she gained invaluable experience advocating for justice, protecting the rights of individuals and ensuring fairness in the legal process.

Currently, Lauren is a Senior Solicitor in the Montgomery County Solicitors Office where she serves as counsel for the County’s Health and Human Services departments. Whether she is handling complex litigation, negotiating contracts or advocating for access to services, Lauren understands the pivotal role the court system plays in social services to our most vulnerable populations.

LOOKING FORWARD

Lauren is no stranger to public service. Serving as an elected councilwoman in Norristown, the community that has consistently poured into her, has been one of the greatest honors of her life. Representing the people of Norristown has given Lauren the opportunity to listen to the needs of people, offer clarity in moments of legal uncertainty and make decisions that improve the lives of those she serves.

All of Lauren’s collective experiences have prepared her to bring the same dedication and values to the judiciary, ensuring that our courts remain fair, transparent, and accessible to all.
